A sunny Saturday morning in Rochester. At the Corn Exchange, almost 150 people turned up to take part in the Open Space workshop. The overarching question for the morning was “How can culture make Medway a great place?”. The participants set the agenda, discussing and developing over thirty topics and ideas throughout the morning.

There was a broad mix of attendees, from artists, designers and makers, to heritage and community arts groups. We were also joined by one small and very well-behaved baby. A good turn-out, the energy was high and everyone had something to say.

The agenda was set and managed and noted by the participants on the day.

We are now writing up the report, pulling together the notes from the day’s different conversations. We will send the report to all those who signed up for the event. The discussions and ideas explored and developed in the morning sessions will help inform the development of the new Medway cultural strategy. Alongside the other research we have carried out, the report will inform the development of themes for the next round of consultation.

If you were not able to come along, this was just the first of our public consultations. You will be able to contribute your reactions and ideas at future events in the coming months. And please do, we want everyone to have had their say.
