UPDATE –  We received excellent submissions in response to this brief. We’re have now been in touch with everyone who applied and are ready to start brief the organisations and people we are working with next week. Our thanks go to everyone who applied.

New community consultation brief launched – please note the deadline has been extended as we seek further applications – please see details below.

We believe that creativity and culture can be part of everyone’s lives. We want to get as many people as possible who live, work or study in Medway involved in the conversation to make Medway’s Cultural Strategy as ambitious and inclusive as possible. We want to make sure it reflects who we are, where we’ve come from and where we are going.
Working with the Medway 2025 UK City of Culture bid team, we are looking to work with individuals or organisations who are representatives of (or who work closely with) diverse communities across Medway. Or anyone who feels that their community’s voice may be getting lost in current conversations about culture. We are especially keen to hear from those who can host conversations with communities where English is not their first language.
Medway’s UK City of Culture bid is part of the ambitious new Cultural Strategy that will shape the cultural life of the area over the next ten years. UK City of Culture is a transformational opportunity to bring all of Medway together to create a year-long programme of work and show the rest of the country and the world what we have to offer. We want you to host informal creative engagement conversations with your community that can help shape the development of the themes, programme and ambitions of both our City of Culture bid and the Cultural Strategy.
If you can convene a creative community conversation online or (safely) offline over July or August, we’d love to hear from you. Details of the brief can be found here.
Community conversations are not the only way of engaging with the development of the strategy. Please help us by continuing to share the link to the documents and survey as widely as possible through your networks – we want to make sure the next ten years of culture in Medway is shaped and is of benefit to as many of Medway’s residents and workers as possible.
The City of Culture bid team is also looking for other input. If this brief is not for you, but you are part of a neighbourhood or community group, run a charity service, a club or a get-together and are interested in hosting group conversation, please do get in touch with Imogen by email at cityofculture@medway2025.co.uk or call 07773194583.
